Composite filling

A dental filling is a type of restorative dentistry treatment used to repair minimal tooth fractures, tooth decay or otherwise damaged surfaces of the teeth. Dental filling materials, which include composite, porcelain and silver amalgam, may be used to even out tooth surfaces for better biting or chewing.
Composite fillings are the most widely used, because of their excellent appearance. They are made from a plastic resin and filler, and are bonded to the teeth. A range of shades is available so that the colour of your teeth can be matched very closely, making them almost impossible to see.

Teeth filled with composite material tend to be stronger, as it bonds to the surrounding tooth, while a tooth filled with amalgam may sometimes be weaker. Composite filling can be fitted into very small holes, so less drilling is needed in preparation for the fillings. These types of fillings can help insulate the tooth from major temperature changes / tooth sensitivity.
